Netflix adds Dolby Atmos support

If you can’t get enough Netflix and want to enhance your listening experience in addition to 4K and HDR viewing, the company just announced, that starting today it will be adding Dolby Atmos sound support to the service starting with Bon Joon Ho’s Okja which recently had its debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

If Dolby Atmos is new to you, think of it as like surround sound on steroids. Instead of just having sound all around, the sound will actually travel in three dimensions. It places sound anywhere in the room and adding that often missing overhead sound like a jet speeding above you and totally immersing you right into the action. Read More at Canoe_Tech Blog.

Netflix adds video previews to TV interface

Scrolling through Netflix selections and reading the descriptions can sometimes be extremely time-consuming and often not very helpful, so Netflix has decided to enhance the user’s search experience. Today, they announced a new TV interface, which adds video previews alongside the title’s description.

Not a Teaser or Trailer

NETFLIX now streaming to over 190 countries

If your country didn’t offer Netflix streaming, chances are after today’s announcement it probably might as the Netflix tap was turned on today to more than 130 additional countries, bringing the total number around the world to 190. Major web upgrade comes to Netflix

The app like design provides consistency across platforms, including mobile devices

EDMONTON, AB Jun 16, 2015/ Troy Media/ – After four years, Netflix has finally decided that it was time for an overhaul of their website. Gone are those cascading box shots that scrolled right to left like moving sidewalks at the airport. They’ve been replaced with an interface that resembles a more modern app experience than a traditional series of webpages.

Now to be fair, the site was pretty cool when it was originally designed, but four years in technology is a pretty long time. The company says that it has redesigned to take advantage of the availability of more sophisticated technology that allows for richer visuals and animations. The app like design makes sense by providing consistency across platforms as more people watch Netflix on their mobile devices including smart phones and tablets. Read Full Post at Troy Media.

Is your microwave a Netflix killer?

There’s nothing more frustrating than when the family is watching the last episode of House Of Cards Season 3 after binge-watching all day when your son decides to make microwave popcorn. And all of a sudden, the video gets choppy, Netflix starts buffering and rebuffering. It’s not a catastrophe as it eventually resets and comes back but still it can certainly kill the moment and the watching experience. It makes you wonder what does the microwave have to do with your TV?

Will you binge watch House of Cards Season 3?

If you are a big fan of House of Cards on Netflix, I’m sure you’re excited that Season 3 is now hot off the press. I wonder, how many of you have already put aside all those important things that you were supposed to in favour binge-watching the entire season of 13 episodes?

I admit that so far, I’ve only watched Season 3 Episode 1 – or Chapter 27 is it’s referred to. I made myself a promise not to repeat what I did last for Season 2 after I binged on Season 1. It started off nice and slow; I controlled the urge and watched the first three episodes over a period of a little over two weeks. Then I couldn’t help myself. Netflix subscriptions jump by $1

EDMONTON, AB, May 12, 2014/ Troy Media/ – If you’ve been putting off subscribing to Netflix and watching the scheming Kevin Spacey in Emmy-award winning House of Cards until now, it’s going to cost you just a little bit more to subscribe.

Netflix says the $1 price increase (from $7.99 to $8.99) is necessary if it was to continue to add more movies and TV shows to its roster and continue to provide original and exclusive (and expensive) content. House of Cards just released Season 2 in February and Orange is the New Black will debut Season 2 on June 6th.

Netflix recently sent out an e-mail to current members advising them of the change and how it would affect them now and in the long term.

“As a thank you for being a member of Netflix already, we guarantee your plan and price (excluding tax) will not change for two years.”

The company added that they would guarantee the current price members pay as long as they maintained current membership.
