Braven powerbank that’s smart, rugged and Bluetooth enabled

Braven BRV-BankAs the weather heats up this summer and people pack up the car and head out to connect with nature, they still want to stay connected and that means keeping their gadgets charged. One cool gadget that can help do that and more is the rugged Braven BRV-BANK. It’s more than just a battery and like a good bank, it offers an array of “services” you would expect from a bank and a few more. Surprisingly, it’s Bluetooth 4.0 enabled and can be remotely controlled.

As for power, it features a rechargeable lithium-ion 6000mAh battery that can recharge two 5V USB enabled gadgets at a time. Port 1 is configured to output 5V/1A for recharging typical gadgets like smartphone accessories and Port 2 outputs 5V/2.4A suitable to recharge power-hungry devices like the iPad. Once drained, it can be fully juiced up in 4-5 hours via its micro-USB charging port. READ MORE at CanoeTech Blog.

Review: ECOPEBBLE Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker

1 ECOPEBBLEThere are many portable Bluetooth speakers on the market, a number of which are rated to resist occasional splash. However, the new ECOPEBBLE by EcoXGear has a waterproof/dustproof rating of IPX7, so it’s designed to not only keep out debris, but also water even when fully immersed to a depth of one metre for 30 minutes.

The ECOPEBBLE speaker is tiny and almost square, measuring 2.8 inches high, 2.9 inches wide by 2.8 inches deep and weighs a mere eight ounces. Its perimeter is fully rubberized with big button controls on the top and threaded camera mount screw post on the bottom to attach accessories or mounts. On one side is a colour grille and the other cleverly hidden panel behind a lanyard mounted lens-cap style cover that hides a 3.5” AUX audio-in jack for a wired connection, a microUSB input port for charging, a status indicator light and a main power switch.  Read full article at G4TV.ca.

iStabilizer smartMount better 2nd time around

smartMount-web-1_1024x1024 iphone

To satisfy the Selfie generation, last year iStabilizer released their smartMount smartphone tripod adapter. It was available either as a standalone item or as part of their monopod or flexible smartphone tripod products. While the design seemed quite clever at the time, in practice, depending on your phone it would often, quite frankly, miss the mark. Plus, it wasn’t wide enough to accommodate the iPhone 6. So iStabilizer went back to the drawing board, redesigned it and this time they hit the target.

The original adapter (below) looked pretty cool. It was spring-loaded to allow for any phone up to 2.75 inches in width and a separate model; the XL would accommodate the iPhone 6 and other phones up to 3.5 inches in width. The top portion had a metal wire frame with a rubber insert that could easily fall out and get lost. The bottom grip had a rest adorned with rubberized foam to keep the phone in place.  Read more…at CanoeTech Blog

Kelowna a cool place for a mid winter or anytime getaway

KELOWNA, BC, Jan 21, 2015/ Troy Media/ – Sometimes the best trips are the ones you never planned on taking. We had some vacation rental time that was soon to expire and, much to my surprise, I was able to exchange a one-week stay in a tiny Puerto Vallarta studio condo for a two-bedroom unit at the Delta Grand Okanagan Resort and Conference Centre in Kelowna, British Columbia. Of course, there was a catch; it was for mid to late February and we aren’t really the skiing types.

For those of you not familiar with the city of Kelowna, it’s located in central B.C. on the eastern shore of Lake Okanagan and is the Okanagan Valley’s largest city, with a population of over 120,000. Its summers are hot, averaging around 27C (81F) and winters mild, with temperatures averaging just below freezing.  Read full article at Troy Media.

IONCassetteAdapterBluetooth

If you’re still driving an old or classic car, chances are as long as it’s not too ancient, it’s equipped with an AM/FM Cassette Deck. Now while it still might sound pretty good, likely most of your cassettes have been more than sunbaked and it’s still not up to today’s digital standards. So here’s a little gadget, the ION Cassette Adapter Bluetooth that transforms your cassette player into a wireless music receiver allowing you stream tunes from your portable device through to your car’s speakers.

It’s shaped like a cassette tape; obviously, as it would need to fits into a cassette player. Looking directly at its front face, the microphone and the micro USB charging port are both on the left-hand side along with the on/off sensor which automatically powers the adapter either on or off when you insert or eject the adapter from the player.  READ MORE at Canoe Tech Blog.
