CanoeTech Review: Mobile Home brings Siri to your car

Mobile Home

When you hear “mobile home”, the first thing that comes to mind is a house on wheels. But this mobile home is nothing like a house trailer; this one is a portable replacement for your iPhone’s home button.

Mobile Home is a creation of Plano, Texas based, Beanco Technology. It’s like they’ve detached your iPhone`s home button and put it in a little package that resembles a garage door remote. Just like the garage remote, simply mount Mobile Home on your dash or attach it to the visor in your car.  With a push of a button, you can bring Siri to life, leaving your iPhone’s features usable while it’s safely and legally in your pocket or purse. The concept is so simple you wonder why someone hadn’t come up with it sooner.

MIPWR Dynamo charges your iPhone with your hand

MIPWR ProtoypeLast year in the midst of Hurricane Sandy, here at Canoe Tech Blog, we looked at an emergency self-powered radio that had a built in hand charger to help you through times when there was no power readily available. Well, another company has a brilliant idea to take that concept further. Instead of a standalone product you can use to charge in the absence of electricity, they’re building that same functionality right into an iPhone 4/4s and 5/5S battery case.

Review: Satechi Bluetooth Wireless Keypad

Satechi Wireless Smart Keypad

I really enjoy using my Apple Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard but one thing it’s missing, similar to many notebooks, is a numeric keypad. I’m certainly not an accountant or do tons of data entry, but truthfully, having a keypad handy to quickly punch in numbers rather than pecking one number at a time can certainly be a godsend. Apple doesn’t make one, so accessory maker Satechi designed one to fill the void.

The Satechi Bluetooth Wireless Smart Keypad looks stylishly similar to the Apple Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard including the rounded battery compartment. In fact side-by-side from far, you’d think it was a matched pair. However, unlike the Apple aluminium frame, the Satechi is made of plastic and coated with a brush-aluminium finish. The keys are white, similar in size except for the larger “0”.  It’s slightly more elongated than the keyboard, likely due to its prominent LED display that takes up the upper portion of the device as it can double as a calculator, which you can access by simply pressing the mode button.  READ FULL ARTICLE at G4TV CANADA

Gold iPhone 5S fetches over $10,000 on eBay (or maybe not)

iphone 10K

Even if someone spent two days standing in line waiting to get his or her hands on a gold iPhone 5S, it might have been time well spent as one sold today on eBay for $10,100 US. Now I know that the gold version of Apple’s latest high-end iPhone model is somewhat on the scarce side but paying what amounts to over 15 times its retail price seems a little bit ridiculous, there’s no actual gold in it!

Gold Card

While it has only been a year, but it seemed to be a long time coming as the world anxiously awaited the arrival of a new iPhone. Critics said Apple was way behind and quickly losing market share, but after the first weekend, when the dust settled, Apple sold a record breaking number of new iPhone 5S and 5C models in just 3 days after its initial launch this past Friday, September 20th.

“This is our best iPhone launch yet―more than nine million new iPhones sold―a new record for first weekend sales,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone.”

Analysts had predicted that the company would sell 5-6 million iPhones in the first weekend, but easily surpassed that figure.

Kanex DoubleUp doubles your charging pleasure

Kanex DoubleUp

While it sounds like the name of an R. Kelly album and a famous chewing gum,DoubleUp by Kanex is a dual USB charger for iPad, iPhone, and iPod. And unlike a typical USB charger, this gadget is uniquely designed as a workhorse, enabling you to simultaneously and quickly charge two full-sized iPads from a single power source. Having this capability can be particularly handy when you’re on the road and carrying a backpack full of gadgets or when the availability of AC sockets or time is at a premium.

DoubleUp has a simple design and is fairly easy to use.  The sleek and almost oval shaped design features a foldaway plug so it’s easy to store away when traveling. While it’s much larger than your standard iPhone or iPad AC wall charger, it’s still compact enough to be portable.   READ MORE AT G4 TECH TV.ca
