Every Canada Day we see a sea of red Maple Leafs adorning every conceivable place, including people’s body parts. But what some of you may not know is that not only are a number of standard Apple products available in red, but that those products have a very special and significant meaning.

EDMONTON, AB, Jun 30, 2013/ Troy Media/ – This Canada Day, expect to see people, places and things, the entire country really, covered in red. Why?
Because while the colour is most associated with Canada, given our flag and the Maple Leaf, it’s also the organizational colour of a charity and a trademark called (RED)™, whose name was inspired by the fact the colour is also recognized as a colour for emergency.
The (RED)™ project is the brainchild of U2 lead singer Bono and Bobby Shriver, American activist, politician, attorney and member of the Kennedy family. According to the organization, it was conceived in the spring of 2006 as a way of engaging the consumer and the private sector, predominately the world’s “most iconic” brands and identifiable organizations, in the fight against AIDS.

Canada may be tops when it comes to beer, but when it comes to high-tech gadgets that open the bottle; we can’t discount the good folks from the land down under. As a follow-up to their flagship model,Opena Case for iPhone 5 by Annex Products is a 2-in-1 iPhone case and bottle opener.
Now maybe it’s not something most of us would use very day, or maybe you would. When your beer doesn’t come with a screw top or in a can, it’s nice to know that you won’t be begging to borrow a bottle opener or taking a chip out of the counter or table.
In a nutshell, Opena is a strong sturdy iPhone shell-type case, made of tough polycarbonate that has a built-in slide out stainless steel bottle opener.
SONTE Film controls the amount of light that passes through your window

EDMONTON, AB, Jun 26, 2013/ Troy Media/ – My house faces south, so mid-afternoon, especially in the summer, I like to shut my blinds to keep the living room cool. I also like my privacy.
But what happens if you left blinds open while you were out, only to find out that you might get home later than usual? You can control your lights and appliances in the house remotely from your smartphone, so why not the light shining through your windows?
Well, with SONTE Film, you can. And it has nothing to do with having motorized window coverings. Sonte is the world’s first Wi-Fi-enabled digital shade that controls the amount of light that passes through your window.
Let’s face it; we never seem to have enough juice left in our batteries when we really need it. And this becomes even more critical in emergency situations when you consider last year’s Hurricane Sandy, the tornados in Oklahoma and the recent flooding in Calgary and Southern Alberta, where one never knows if or when electricity would be available to recharge our batteries.
