Every once in a while you come across two cool products that are functionally identical but marketed under different brands. Such is the case with the Champ Bodyguard Battery Rechargeable Power Bank and theAR for Her PowerBank with LED flashlight and Panic Alarm, a.k.a the ZipStick. And while these product names seem to be quite a mouthful, they both accomplish the same job appeal to two unique demographics.

Review: iKlip Xpand, Xpand mini for tablet or smartphone

Back in May 2013, we reviewed iKlip 2 for iPad by IK Multimedia. It was a clever product back then, but the company has really taken it up a notch with its successors – the iKlip Xpand and iKlip Xpand mini, two all-new universal mic stands for smartphones and tablets.

LD WEST: Gun style holster for your smartphone

When I first heard about the LD WEST Holster, I was intrigued – anything that can be used to save valuable pocket space must be a good thing. When I first saw it, held it in my hands, I didn’t know exactly what to make of it. You can easily surmise by the name that it’s a holster; combine that with the name and you’re thinking Cowboys and the Wild West. As it turns out neither is the case although, if you look at its curved cutouts, you may wonder.

LDWEST is actually a sleek fashionable holster system that wraps around the backside of your neck and snaps together allowing you to sling your smartphone under your right arm and your wallet under the left. It’s more like a half a pair of suspenders worn by the likes of Tommy Lee Jones or Clint Eastwood rather than John Wayne or Matt Dillon.

Review: FritzFrame for iPhone 5 and 5s

Say it quickly and it sounds like you’re saying “freeze frame”, but it’s actually Fritz Frame. It’s a cleverly designed video stabilizer, stand and case that allows you to position your iPhone 5 or 5S virtually any which way, even hang it, so you can do Facetime, watch videos and even take those must-have selfies, totally hands-free.

Frank Mansfeld, Fritz Frame CEO and director, and hisdesigners have exploited almost every viewing angle. Fritz Frame is hinged at the bottom, pivots at the centre and can rotate a full 360 degrees in any direction. Movement is smooth and precise on both the hinge and pivot, each with a six-step stop position.

Fritz Frame is amazingly sturdy, yet light, CNC machined from aircraft grade aluminum. It has a fine finish and even where there are square corners you’ll find them smoothly finished. The perfect pouch for the TruRunner

As the mercury climbs, we do away with the hoodies and tracksuits and opt for T-shirts and shorts we find ourselves with fewer pockets and places to keep our keys, smartphones and the like as we head out and about for a walk or a run. One solution to avoid a knapsack or a bulky fanny pack is the TruRunner by Bracketron, a sturdy diminutive lightweight waist pack to store the necessities you need to carry.

TruRunner has a fully adjustable elasticized belt that hugs nicely to your body. Its pleated in-line pocket, may not look like much, but actually expands quite nicely allowing you to store things like your iPhone, keys and perhaps another small personal item or even a granola bar. It’s lining is weather resistant to keep your electronics dry and a weatherproof sealing zipper can help avoid leaks.

I wholeheartedly resist calling TruRunner a fanny pack, for the simple reason that that term conjures up images of the 1990s humongous multi-zippered leather pouch that looked more like a life preserver than a portable storage pack.

World’s smallest 12W charger – Scosche superCUBE

Nomad ChargeKey & ChargeCard – world’s smallest USB cable

Nomad ChargeKey & ChargeCard No matter where we go we always need to have some sort of USB cable nearby, whether it’s to charge up our gadgets or sync with another device. The truth is, carrying them around can be somewhat of a pain. They can be too bulky, cumbersome or we have nowhere to put them. Well Nomad has come up with a solution – in fact two of them, ChargeCard and ChargeKey.

Technically, ChargeCard and ChargeKey are not really cables at all; they are connecting devices and work like cables but look like a credit card and a house key respectively. They both allow you to charge up your device when connected via USB and full-fledged data transfer when syncing to a computer or other compatible device.
