Apple iPhone 6 first 24 hours pre-orders a record four million units

iPhone 6Apple’s new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were made available for pre-order on September 12th and in the first 24 hours that number exceeded four million units – a record for Apple.

Demand has certainly exceeded supply. In fact Apple says that while a chunk off the pre-order supply will be delivered to customers starting Friday, many will see their new iPhones until October.  Apple did say that there will be some stock available at Apple Retail Stores beginning at 8:00AM local time.

If you want to go that route, you might want to get there early. Depending on where you are, there may be some people lined up already.

Apple Canada also confirmed that both models will be available in at other outlets: Rogers, Bell, Telus, MTS and Sasktel, additional carriers and select Apple Authorized Resellers. “iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are better in every way, and we are thrilled customers love them as much as we do,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Pre-orders for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus set a new record for Apple, and we can’t wait to get our best iPhones yet into the hands of customers starting this Friday.”

Not every country will get them at the same time. The two models are being officially released this Friday, September 19th in Canada and the U.S. as well as: Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK and in more than 20 additional countries beginning the following Friday, September 26 including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey and United Arab Emirates.
