Tetris 30 Logo

1984 is best known for the name of George Orwell’s 1948 book that paints a bleak look at the future and the year that saw the release of the original Macintosh, where we saw “why 1984 won’t be like 1984“. But it was also on this day exactly 30 years ago today that Tetris was unveiled to the world.

Tetris is a highly addictive game, where “falling” shaped pieces or “Tetriminos” as they are called have to be arranged into rectangular shapes to create, in real time, a line, as they float down the screen.

Apple WWDC 2014 25

Another Apple WWDC (Worldwide Developer Conference) keynote has come and gone. While most of the rumour mills were shut down (i.e. there were absolutely no new hardware announcements), there was certainly enough fuel coming out of the Mac OS and the Apple iOS updates to fill up the two-hour live stream and then some.

Adapt-Wireless-Receiver-Orange-Front-180x180You’ve invested in a great pair of headphones, but that was eons ago, long before wireless and perhaps before in-line microphones. But you now have a dilemma. You’d like to take advantage of the latest wireless features but don’t want to let go of your tried and true speakers or have to payout big bucks for something else. With Outdoor Tech’s Adapt, you won’t necessarily have to.

In fact the Outdoor Tech Adapt is a Bluetooth headphone adapter that will make anything that has a 3.5mm audio jack wireless – whether it’s your favourite set of well-worn headphones or the earbuds from your iPod Touch. Adapt also ports a built-in sports clip so while you might think it’s designed to be clipped to your clothes or backpack, it isn’t limited to things you wear on your head. You can even connect it to the set of speakers you have on your desk right now. Even better, you can connect it to your car’s AUX-in to stream tunes from any Bluetooth enabled device through your car’s speakers.

Bottle opening timepiece focuses on Happy Hour

HappyHourISH1I don’t usually find it a challenge to come up with a headline for a story or review, but while tossing around a couple of ideas, this one certainly made me want to have a “beverage”. And so it should, that is, for the simple fact that when staring at it the entire face looks somewhat fuzzy, the hour and the minute hand appearing somewhat blotchy and none of the numbers visible with the exception of the “5”.

Now I know what you might be thinking – that I’ve already decided to partake in the human ritual known to many as Happy Hour which begins around 5 “ish” and that I’ve already had a few too many. Others might nod their heads in agreement, because after a long day, Happy Hour is the only time that matters. But truth be told, I haven’t had a sip – yet – and that’s the way the watch was designed – really!           Read full article At G4TV Canada

araHub engineered for beauty and perfection

AraHUB picFor most of us, a USB hub is not something that you would call sexy or exciting, but when you need one to be fast, reliable and functional that’s when you really start to pay a little more attention to it.

That’s exactly what happened to Waterloo, Ontario inventor James Morrison when one day, he needed a professional grade USB Hub that he could rely on. So he decided to take action and went out and designed his own.  He also also believed that while the hub needed to work just the right way, there was no reason why it couldn’t also be sleek and fashionable.

His invention, a 7-port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed hub called the araHUB. Morrison and his company ARA Innovation are trying to bring this to market and make it a reality through a Kickstarter campaign
