Review: Creative MUVO mini water-resistant wireless speakerphone

1 MuvoMiniPicIt’s nice to have a small portable wireless speaker that you can just throw in your backpack or purse. It’s even better, when you can get such a gadget that’s designed to withstand the elements without easily getting destroyed. The MUVO mini from Creative Labs certainly fits that bill.

Water-Resistant Compact Footprint

Muvo mini has a small footprint 7.4 x 1.4 x 2.3 inches housed in an attractive brick-shaped polished aluminum case.  It’s rated to IP66 standards, so it’s not waterproof, but it is water-resistant. And it’s light, weighing a mere 10 oz. It has a cool funky speaker grille pattern that could look like different things depending on how you visualize it. It might be a series of cubes stacked onto each other or a plethora of peace signs within a hexagonal shape.  The hexagonal motif also extends to its four speaker control buttons located atop the unit. KULR plays music charges your phone and keeps your beer cold

Kulr email image 2

Cooler, when used in the context of a place to keep your beer cold when on the beach doesn’t really stir up any excitement in one’s mind. But Kulr, which sounds the same is still a cooler but it’s high-tech and in a whole different category.

First off, the cooler part. It looks like a standard cooler, but a little more sleek and stylish. It has a scratch resistant shell and an elevated slip base to keep it slightly raised off the ground. It has extra thick insulated walls to keep your “brewskis” cold and will store up to 18 standard sized cans. And should you decide to go with bottles, there’s a custom bottle opener under the hood. Braven Bridge Executive Conference Call Speaker

Bridge_family_1There are lots of portable Bluetooth speakers on the market but I can’t say I’ve seen that many, particularly those offered in the consumer channel, specifically targeted or designed for the conference call market. But such is the case with the new Braven Bridge.

It’s being marketed as an “Executive Conference Call Speaker,” which I suspect is due to the fact that it offers both a luxurious design and built-in high definition microphones geared for use in a conference call environment. It’s an interesting differentiation as most other Bluetooth speaker offerings focus on the speaker with the microphone being a little extra, whereas for Braven, the mic is one of its primary features. Review: Kidz Gear Bluetooth Headphones with Boom Mic

2 Kidz Gear Earcup Control

When you think of headphones for Kids, you’d likely think- cheap in terms of both price and build quality, often candy-coloured and fairly vanilla in terms of features. But one company doesn’t totally believe in that philosophy. In fact they are quite adamant, touting their latest offering the Kidz Gear Bluetooth Stereo Headphones with Boom Mic as being an adult product built for kids.

They’ve taken this direction, it seems, based on their assumptions that with kids being kids, they also want the same things that adults have. So to that end, the company introduced a fully featured wireless headset with detachable omnidirectional boom mic, ideal for use at home for gaming, on-line chatting and listening to tunes but also suitable for serious school work including activities like language learning.  Read Full Review at G4TV Canada.

RHA T20i DualCoil earbuds with interchangeable tuning filters – Review

t20-3_2While we’re seeing more wireless earbuds and headphones hit the market, one company, UK-based RHA (Reid Heath Audio) has taken a different direction. Rather than cutting the cord, it’s upping the ante focusing on high definition sound and noise reduction and introducing the RHA T20i DualCoil In-Ear Headphone with interchangeable tuning filters.

Their latest iteration brings along a few of RHA’s signature features, but its latest offering is more than a step up from the T10i and the MA-750i earbuds, the latter we looked at previously here at Canoe Tech Blog.

Starting with the buds themselves, first of all they look pretty cool. They feature injection moulded stainless-steel housings, like the 750i but rather than shaped like a traditional earplug, they resemble in-ear monitors or dare I say, metal hearing aids and give a more natural fit to the contours of the ear.

Griffin PowerDock Pro charges 5 USB gadgets at once

Power-dock-pro

Griffin went back to the drawing board, re-designing their multi-device USB charging system and unveiling a newer sleeker model, the PowerDock Pro. It can still charge up to five devices at once and brings along some additional practical and enhanced features.

The Griffin PowerDock Pro is the successor to the PowerDock 5 we looked at here at CanoeTech Blog back in 2013. It still allows for charging up the five devices at once, but while the original was optimized for iOS, this one will play nice with both iOS and Android devices simultaneously. Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

IK Multimedia iRig Pro DUO offers dual channel midi interface

A portable MIDI interface is pretty handy to have particularly when you’re on the road, so if you’re doing an impromptu performance or a live recording session and have both a guitar and a mic, you might be out of luck, unless you either have two interfaces or the iRig Pro DUO – the latest portable MIDI interface from IK Multimedia that features two channels.

This new dual-channel gadget is a follow-up to the original single channel iRig Pro, we looked at here at CanoeTech Blog back in mid-2013. Not only does it double your channels, it’s been enhanced with additional features not found on its predecessor.

It won’t surprise you that it’s a little bigger, but still pretty small. At only 5″x 2.95″x 1.46″ it more or less fits in the palm of your hand and amazingly compact for what’s packed under the hood.  Read Full Review at Canoe Tech Blog
