This Canada Day, buy (RED) in the fight against AIDS

This Canada Day, buy (RED) in the fight against AIDS

EDMONTON, AB, Jun 30, 2013/ Troy Media/ – This Canada Day, expect to see people, places and things, the entire country really, covered in red. Why?

Because while the colour is most associated with Canada, given our flag and the Maple Leaf, it’s also the organizational colour of a charity and a trademark called (RED)™, whose name was inspired by the fact the colour is also recognized as a colour for emergency.

The (RED)™ project is the brainchild of U2 lead singer Bono and Bobby Shriver, American activist, politician, attorney and member of the Kennedy family. According to the organization, it was conceived in the spring of 2006 as a way of engaging the consumer and the private sector, predominately the world’s “most iconic” brands and identifiable organizations, in the fight against AIDS.

Now maybe it’s not something most of us would use very day, or maybe you would. When your beer doesn’t come with a screw top or in a can, it’s nice to know that you won’t be begging to borrow a bottle opener or taking a chip out of the counter or table.

iOS 7, Mavericks & Apple WWDC 2013 announcement wrap-up

wwdcWindow

The Apple 2013 Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco kicked off with its traditional keynote lead by CEO Tim Cook. As expected, there were a number of announcements with respect to new hardware, updates to the Mac OS and iOS, which were not only designed to enhance the user experience but also a next step in bringing their desktop and mobile operating systems that much closer. Notably absent was any mention of refreshes to the iPhone, iPad or iPad mini, or the illusive iWatch, the last of which I was totally not surprised.

Apple WWDC 2013 to be streamed live

wwdc13 2013If you like to watch things as it happens, especially all things Apple, you’ll be happy to know that the opening keynote for Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2013 will be streamed live today, Monday June 10, beginning at 10:00AM PDT, 1:00PM EDT, at Apple.com, so you won’t have to guess what’s going to happen.

What’s coming is still a secret as it always is with Apple, but with Apple’s stock price at time of writing up over 1%, about $5 per share, the market is expecting Apple to show us that they are still the great innovators that differentiates them from the rest of the pack.

Rumours are saying we may see Mac OSX 10.9 as well as iOS 7, predicated by9to5MAC catching glimpses of banners porting a giant “7″. We may also see the release or announcement of a low cost iPhone, since with the recent court ruling they may have challenges selling the iPhone 4 (and iPad 2) in the U.S. Rumours are also afloat about Apple’s MacBooks being upgraded with the latest Haswellchips that consume much less power than their predecessors.

Don’t hold your iPad, iKlip 2 it!

iklip2_main_image_450

iPads have found their way into many homes, offices and coffee shops, but we’re also seeing them being used on stage and in the studio. Presenters, musicians and speakers are using them for practice, rehearsal and live events, so the need to have them up front and center and hands-free right there with the microphone, has become all too important.

Review: Seidio OBEX waterproof case for iPhone 5

Seidio OBEX waterproof case for iPhone 5

At first glance the Seidio OBEX waterproof case for iPhone 5 doesn’t look like much. However, if you use your precious device in an environment where it can easily be subject to things like mud, water, dust, sand or anything that could potentially destroy your prize possession then this case, as vanilla as it may seem, could literally save your backside.

Seidio OBEX is designed for protection and functionality more so than fashion.  It absorbs shock in two ways; first by the material it’s made of – a combination of Polycarbonate and Thermoplastic Polyurethane – and second, by the curvature in the build that dissipates the force of the impact across the body of the case rather than at its point of impact, softening the blow. In fact, in independent testing, it exceeds MIL-STD-810G a military standard for drop protection when dropped from 4 feet at multiple angles.  READ FULL ARTICLE AT G4TV CANADA
