Gigabit Ethernet and 3-port hub in one adapter

logiix_pistonConnect-USB-A-3Port-1Gbit-Ethernet

Many of today’s notebook models like the MacBook Air no longer have Ethernet ports, so in the event you might find a need for a wired Internet or a hard LAN connection, you need an adapter for that. For notebooks with a standard USB-A connection LOGiiX has the Piston Connect USB-A 3-Port Hub + 1Gbit Ethernet Adapter, which not only gives you that missing RJ-45 port; you also get as the name suggests, a built-in 3-port USB hub.

It comes in a handy compact, yet sturdy, form factor (135 x 61x 24mm) with a pigtail style format – i.e. with the USB cable (38cm) attached, which you can easily throw into your knapsack and carry around. It also has an on-board LED indicators that give you your connectivity status. Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

Review: Blue Raspberry a sweet little mic

Raspberry FrontYou wouldn’t associate blue with raspberry unless you were talking about candy or microphones – specifically the Raspberry by Blue Microphones a portable high-quality mobile USB mic designed for your PC or Mac but also for your iOS device.

Blue’s latest offering is small yet powerful. It can deliver studio quality 24-bit/48 kHz sound for your podcast, voice-over or even YouTube masterpiece through its small condenser capsule thanks to its Internal Acoustic Diffuser (IAD). Its Blue’s proprietary technology is designed to help focus on the voice or instrument, if that’s what you’re recording, and minimizes or deflects other sounds it detects as extraneous noise.

This can be handy particularly in a mobile environment, where you can’t always control what’s happening around you.  Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

braven-ready-elite-wireless-bluetooth-speaker-black-a_1
Braven Audio was one of the early entrance into the wireless speaker market. We first looked one back in 2012 and another, the Braven Lux, late last year, which could be easily mistaken for a ladies clutch purse. This year at CES 2017 they released the “Ready” line of outdoor speakers. The model I’ve particularly taken note of is the Ready Elite, their top-end heavy-duty wireless Bluetooth app-enabled model designed for the outdoors.
Designed to be rugged, it features a shockproof an aircraft-grade aluminum grill over a moulded cabinet. It’s also waterproof and rustproof, certified to the IP67 standard. For that extra boost when playing outdoors, this speaker features massive drivers and a deep bass passive radiator. Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

PreviewImageIf you’re a Mac OS user and need a quick and dirty way to batch convert a whole bunch of files from one format to another, you may not need to seek out or even buy an app for that. In fact, for some file types all you need to use is Apple’s Preview, an app that comes with every installation of any Mac OS.

EDMONTON, December 19, 2008 /Troy Media/ — Turn the clock back to the late 18th century to the mid 19th century Alberta and chances are you’d be eating fish, beaver tail and stewed moose, rather than roasted turkey and honey-glazed ham, for Christmas dinner.

Instead of rockin’ to tunes emanating from audio systems and iPods, you’re more likely to be dancing the jig to the sounds of a fiddle and perhaps a drum.

That was the height of the festive season celebrations during the period of the Fur Trade.
