LG V20, world’s first Quad DAC smartphone coming in September?

In the days where it’s getting harder and harder to add significant innovations to smart phones, LG has taken a bold step to appeal to the discerning audiophile. They’ve announced their upcoming flagship smartphone, the LG V20 will feature a built-in 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC (digital to analog converter) — a smartphone industry first.

Inclusion of a high-quality DAC is not new to LG. The V20′s predecessor, the LG V10 already includes 32-bit Hi-Fi DAC by ESS Technology, but the new DAC, will feature four channels. The company claims the new addition will allow the new phone to deliver ultra-crisp and clear sound that comes close to replicating a live performance. Microsoft keyboard is both universal and foldable

When you think of a Microsoft keyboard, you usually envision the ergonomic keyboard they’ve been forever known for. What you may not know is that they also offer the Microsoft Universal Foldable Keyboard, a compact wireless keyboard that you can use with a plethora of devices – not just those that run Windows and when you’re done, you can easily fold it away.

The keyboard offers full-sized keys; it’s ultra thin and lightweight at 180 grams and measures only 5.75 x 4.29 x 0.94 inches when folded closed and 9.53 x 4.29 x 0.47 inches when open. Cygnett offers ultra-slim 10,000 mAh power bank

Having a spare power bank is always a good thing, but as logic dictates there’s always a trade-off between battery power and battery size; if you want more power you have to increase the size. So Australia-based Cygnett has created the ChargeUp Digital Portable Power Bank, a small slim-lined power bank rated at 10,000 mAh and has an LED digital power display to boot.

The ChargeUp case has a durable polymer shell, a very small footprint, not much bigger than a credit card. It measures 142 mm long x 71 mm wide; 14 mm thin and weighs only 250 g.

It looks pretty sleek, too

Inside the case is a super thin lithium-polymer battery the company claims offers enough power to charge five to six phones or two to three tablets before the unit needs to be recharged. Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

World’s First Drone Racing Game – 2 days left

The Drone Racing Game being offered through the campaign, or as Indiegogo calls them, perks, is being offered in the form of a kit that comes in a few different flavours including the Pro and Ultimate. The game, the company is claiming is said to be the world’s first.

New Misfit Speedo Shine 2 just in time for Rio 2016

Around this time last year at CanoeTech Blog we looked at the new partnership between Misfit and Speedo that resulted in a Misfit Shine activity and sleep tracker that featured a proprietary algorithm especially designed for swimmers. Whether the timing of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio is a coincidence or not, Misfit has just released its next generation model – Misfit Shine 2 Swimmer’s Edition, powered by Speedo, adding a number of new features including a new vibration motor and redesigned lights to make the wearable more valuable.

The new model also known as Speedo Shine 2 offers improvement in the hardware, firmware and software through the enhanced Misfit app for iOS and Android.

Shine’s new vibration motor offers much improved touch responsiveness with capacitive touch technology and now allows for both text and call notifications along with a silent vibrating alarm. Razer iPad Pro keyboard case features mechanical switches

You often see people using a full-sized keyboard when using their notebooks at home partly because of its larger size but also for the fact that they just like the touch and feel of the mechanical switch type keys. So users of Apple’s 12.9″ iPad Pro users will be happy to know that Razer has released the Razer Ultra-Low-Profile Mechanical Switch, a first in the world of keyboard mechanical switches. The switches will be initially outfitted into the Razer Mechanical Keyboard Case for the 12.9″ Apple iPad Pro.

Review: Braven Lux – a wireless speakerphone and not a purse

One would rarely think of describing a Bluetooth speaker as having a luxurious feminine style, but when you look at the Braven Lux you just may smile and nod your head in agreement. In fact if you come across a lady holding one in her hand you might mistakenly take it for a clutch purse.

Review: Jabra Halo Smart Wireless earphones

When Jabra announced the Halo Smart – wireless Bluetooth earphones and smart nonetheless, it truly piqued my interest – and in particular that they were also designed to give both voice and call, top priority, something often forgotten about in other sets.

To review the set, I thought I’d give them the test drive as I do others by taking them along with me along with my iPhone 5S for a week during my daily walks.

The first thing you notice about Halo Smart is its unique shape. Rather than just cables running to each bud or to a control module, each earphone is attached by a short cable to an almost squared off light-weight, U-shaped rubberized neckband, which sits quite comfortably around your collar. Experience London’s Great Fire of 1666 through Minecraft

In 1666, the Great Fire destroyed London, England and to commemorate the 350th Anniversary of the event, the Museum of London wants to share the story with the world. But rather than do it simply in the form of video, text, or a exhibit, the story is also being retold as a game – Great Fire 1666.

The game will consist of three phases or ‘Maps”; starting you off on the streets of 17th century London before the eventful time, where you can walk around and interact with the locals.
