Gosling’s new flick hits theatres, iTunes same time

OnlyGodForgives

As far as I can remember, major theatrical releases first went out to the big screen and the high-priced popcorn-eating crowd. Then, they eventually were pressed to DVD and or Blu-ray disc, for purchase or rental as well as through video on demand, iTunes and then perhaps Netflix and other on-line services. However, for Gosling’s latest flick, this is not the case.

5 years of the Apple App Store

Apple 5Apple is celebrating the 5th anniversary of its App Store and to commemorate this auspicious occasion, they are giving away 10 paid products, not normally free, which include 5 apps and 5 games, but only for a limited time.

And these are decent titles, to boot They  include: Barefoot World Atlas, Day One Journal, How to Cook Everything, Over and Traktor DJ for iPhone (and for iPad). Games include: Badland, Infinity Blade II, Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery, Tiny Wings and Where’s My Water?

In 5 years, the App Store has gone from its initial 500 apps to more than over 900,000 to date and a billion is just around the corner. In May 2013, the number of App Store downloads reached a new milestone surpassing the 50 billion mark.

Developers have also profited from creating Apps to the tune of $10 billion US, which Apple has paid to them to date.

Visit your iTunes store to get the low-down on the free apps and a look at some of the milestoes Apple has reached in only 5 short years.  Limited time only!!!!

Apple adds iPhone to Back-To-School Promo

BTS Mac and iPad

Every year, Apple has a Back-to-School promotion where they offer some sort of incentive, typically a gift card to encourage post-secondary students to buy a Mac or an iPad before the fall session of school kicks in.

Now this year is no different, except for the first time, they’ve included the iPhone as part of the promotion. No reason was given why although one could hazard a guess that it might have to do with a new iPhone in the works and they want to clear out old stock.     Read more…AT CANOE TECH BLOG

EDMONTON, AB, Jun 26, 2013/ Troy Media/ – My house faces south, so mid-afternoon, especially in the summer, I like to shut my blinds to keep the living room cool. I also like my privacy.

But what happens if you left blinds open while you were out, only to find out that you might get home later than usual? You can control your lights and appliances in the house remotely from your smartphone, so why not the light shining through your windows?

Well, with SONTE Film, you can. And it has nothing to do with having motorized window coverings. Sonte is the world’s first Wi-Fi-enabled digital shade that controls the amount of light that passes through your window.

iOS 7, Mavericks & Apple WWDC 2013 announcement wrap-up

wwdcWindow

The Apple 2013 Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco kicked off with its traditional keynote lead by CEO Tim Cook. As expected, there were a number of announcements with respect to new hardware, updates to the Mac OS and iOS, which were not only designed to enhance the user experience but also a next step in bringing their desktop and mobile operating systems that much closer. Notably absent was any mention of refreshes to the iPhone, iPad or iPad mini, or the illusive iWatch, the last of which I was totally not surprised.

Apple WWDC 2013 to be streamed live

wwdc13 2013If you like to watch things as it happens, especially all things Apple, you’ll be happy to know that the opening keynote for Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2013 will be streamed live today, Monday June 10, beginning at 10:00AM PDT, 1:00PM EDT, at Apple.com, so you won’t have to guess what’s going to happen.

What’s coming is still a secret as it always is with Apple, but with Apple’s stock price at time of writing up over 1%, about $5 per share, the market is expecting Apple to show us that they are still the great innovators that differentiates them from the rest of the pack.

Rumours are saying we may see Mac OSX 10.9 as well as iOS 7, predicated by9to5MAC catching glimpses of banners porting a giant “7″. We may also see the release or announcement of a low cost iPhone, since with the recent court ruling they may have challenges selling the iPhone 4 (and iPad 2) in the U.S. Rumours are also afloat about Apple’s MacBooks being upgraded with the latest Haswellchips that consume much less power than their predecessors.
