LG Electronics (LG) just announced the is world’s first 8K. When we’re just getting used to the idea that we have to give up our then high-priced HDTV in favour of 4K, LG comes along announcing a IFA Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin, an 88-inch 8K OLED TV featuring a whopping 7680 x 4320 resolution. And according to LG, it features over 33 million self-emitting pixels producing the unmatched contrast ratio and true blacks that define OLED TV’s iconic picture quality.

Often called “next-generation display technology,” what make the OLED so great is that it emits its own light, eliminating the need for any kind of backlighting resulting in a much better picture quality.

I can just imagine watching my favourite Marvel series on Netflix – especially one of my faves – Iron Fist. Series 2 coming September 7th.

Of course the image we’ve been supplied with does not really do it justice. If you want to see one right now, you have to go to Berlin – as the only place you can see it with your own eyes sight now right is at the LG booth in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin.

No prices or product availability for the Canadian market has been announced.
