If you spend a lot of time outdoors year-round, like to listen to your tunes on the go but want to carry around only the absolute minimum, then the new EcoSlate by ECOXGEAR may be a new gadget to check out. It’s an all-new rugged, all-in-one waterproof portable audio system that features a built-in power bank and a bright lantern.

Rugged and Waterproof

As far as the speakers go, under the hood are two 10 W speakers (20 watts total) with dual passive subwoofers.  Like most of ECOXGEAR products, it’s designed to be rugged. It has a drop proof exterior that the company says meets military specifications. Ford smart crib mimics the movements of your car

Ford_MotoDreams_12

Two weeks ago, if I heard about the Ford Motor Company rolling out an at-home smart crib that lulls your newborn to sleep by simply mimicking the movement of your automobile, I would’ve immediately thought – here comes another April Fool’s joke. But I guess the joke is on me; it’s called Max Motor Dreams, and it’s real.

Gadget Guy GadgetGreg ranks in Top 65 Best Gadget Blogs on the Planet

I have to admit that I’m honoured and thrilled and quite surprised to be included in the TOP 65 Best Gadget Blogs on the Planet by FeedSpot a.k.a Top 65 Gadget Websites And Blogs For Gadget Freaks. I was informed by email just a few days ago.

The list is created by FeedSpot by looking at thousands of Gadget blogs in the company’s index using search and social metrics and ranked based on following criteria:

  • Google reputation and Google search ranking
  • Influence and popularity on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites
  • Quality and consistency of posts.
  • Feedspot’s editorial team and expert review

In fact, I placed 47th and honoured to be in the company with other gadget blog giants. It’s interesting to note that this blog GadgetGreg.com a.k.a. GadgetGuy.ca includes both specific content created for this blog plus a connection to a number of freelance articles, posts, videos and podcasts. (Connections are, of course, to avoid duplicate content and to also respect the other publications who have first rights.)

Nevertheless, I want to thank everyone for continuing to support and read the blog as well as those who gave it recognition.

Respectfully

Greg Gazin

Review: IK iRig Acoustic Stage digital mic system for acoustic guitars

iRig_Acoustic_Stage_front_full_nojack_opt

Back in December 2015 we reviewed the iRig Acoustic mic as a great little gift for the music lover; a MEMS microphone that clips on to the sound hole of an acoustic guitar. Now, IK Multimedia has taken that one step farther with the iRig Acoustic Stage digital mic system, a portable pre-amp and a digital signal-processing unit (DSP) that can enhance the acoustic sound sent out to a mixing board or amplifier or output to a computer or mobile device.

Sold as a kit, iRig Acoustic Stage comprises of the main pre-amp/DSP unit, iRig Acoustic Mic (functionally similar, but not interchangeable with the one sold as a stand-alone product), a belt/strap clip and padded case.

The idea behind the mic was that you could get better sound from an acoustic instrument being as close to the sound hole as possible even closer than a traditional external mic could be placed. Also having it attached to the guitar, gives the musician the freedom to move around rather than be stuck in front of a stationary mic stand. Read more…and see full review at CanoeTech Blog.

Marshall Monitor Bluetooth headphones boast 30 hour battery

MarshallMonitor

The name Marshall has been around since the 1960s and has been synonymous with sound-blasting guitar amps, but just this week the company unveiled the Marshall Monitor Bluetooth, their first wireless over-ear high-fidelity premium headphones.

At first glance you’ll immediately recognize the classic Marshall black vinyl and Marshall signature script. It also features a padded headband, brass inlays, heavy duty cast metal hinges and the ergonomic ear cups designed to provide enhanced noise isolation. Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

The Origin of April Fool’s Day

Are you on red alert for pranks and fake news April 1st? It’s just an extension of centuries-old tradition to entertain and trick – or is it?

EDMONTON, Alta. Mar. 31, 2017 /Troy Media/ – On April Fool’s Day, we’re on red alert for pranks, hoaxes and fake news – and it’s been going on for centuries, from an era when court jesters were common.

With no TV, movies or Internet, jesters, jokers or fools were the entertainers of Medieval and Renaissance times. They often started out as travelling performers who, with minstrels, entertained at fairs and markets.

The fools who gained greatest prominence were those who entertained monarchs and noblemen, as part of the household staff.

Being a court jester was the career pinnacle for the quick-witted and talented few. They could rise above the simple nomadic existence, entertaining peasants living in filth, disease and poverty. Their new life was to entertain a captive audience, and enjoy stability, shelter and more to eat in one meal than others had in a week.

galaxy-note7_curve_phone_l

It seems so long ago that the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was no more after being banned from all commercial flights and eventually recalled by the company due to possible exploding batteries. But in a statement released today, it appears that it’s resurfacing in either a salvaged, refurbished or rental form, but the latter two will not happen in Canada.

Razer launches gamer’s “Paid to Play” program

24032017_paid_to_play_banner

If you get paid for something you love to do is that really considered work?  What if what you had to do was play games? The best of the best are probably making some serious coin, but what about us casual types?
