Hardware encrypted PIN authenticated diskAshur2 drives keep data secure

We keep our computers on lockdown, encrypt our data and secure them from prying eyes and online predators, but what about our backups, what about those external drives? UK-based iStorage has come up diskAshur2, an updated line of virtually bullet-proof PIN authenticated and hardware encrypted hard drives. So even if the drive was stolen, your data is fully protected.

The beauty of this system is that you data will be secure and there’s really no need to worry about installing software, which operating system is running or what platform you are using. All your data’s encryption (AES 256-bit XTS) is done through hardware thanks to the drive’s built-in secure microprocessor. Read more…and full review at Canoe Tech Blog

This time, we spin things around looking at the new Jabra Evolve 75 wireless Bluetooth stereo headphones optimized to suit the noisy call centre or with the open office in mind .

The Evolve 75 is lightweight and designed to be worn all day. Review: UnGrip won’t let you drop your phone

iphone_hand

Johann Pascual had an epiphany noticing that while cellphones were getting bigger and bigger most people’s hands were not and that caused some difficulty for some people. So he invented Ungrip, a little gadget that adheres to the back of any sized smartphone allowing you to easily grip your prized device with comfort and care.

Now before you start quoting Capt. Obvious, the reality is that a larger phone means a higher chance of dropping it, a common occurrence particularly when taking Selfies. And haven’t you noticed how many of those phones aren’t even in a protective case Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

BT5205_16-IMS-en_CA

Some men live their whole adult lives wearing a beard; others grow one or try to grow one at this time of the year as a tribute to Hockey, Canada’s Winter Sport. Regardless as to why, there might come a time when you either need to shave it off or give it a trim. Unless you’re somewhat of a barber, stylist or artist, keeping the exact same look can be a challenge, unless you have something like the Philips Beardtrimmer Series 5000 Stubble TrimmerRead more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

Review: Dyson UV Cleansing Humidifier

Depending on where you live, you know how dry it can get indoors, particularly during the cold weather where besides dry skin, many people may exhibit chapped lips, sinus issues and a nightmare for some allergy sufferers. It also generates static, which can wreak havoc on your electronics. That’s when it’s a good time to ensure you have a decent humidifier to help you breathe easier and keep the “nasties” away.

I had given up on furnace mount humidifiers a long time ago, after going through a few of them; they either seized up due to calcification or unevenly humidified rooms. Some rooms were poorly humidified while others had condensation buildup on the windows. I resorted to using a run-of-the-mill portable ultrasonic humidifier in the sleeping area and living room that I felt more or less did the job until I took the Dyson AM10 Humidifier for a test drive for a month.  Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

SpiderLight Holster keeps your camera always ready

SpiderHolsterIf carting around your camera is a bit of a pain or too slow to get at when that perfect photo op pops up, then the SpiderLight Camera Holster might be something to check out. Review: IK iRig Acoustic Stage digital mic system for acoustic guitars

iRig_Acoustic_Stage_front_full_nojack_opt

Back in December 2015 we reviewed the iRig Acoustic mic as a great little gift for the music lover; a MEMS microphone that clips on to the sound hole of an acoustic guitar. Now, IK Multimedia has taken that one step farther with the iRig Acoustic Stage digital mic system, a portable pre-amp and a digital signal-processing unit (DSP) that can enhance the acoustic sound sent out to a mixing board or amplifier or output to a computer or mobile device.

Sold as a kit, iRig Acoustic Stage comprises of the main pre-amp/DSP unit, iRig Acoustic Mic (functionally similar, but not interchangeable with the one sold as a stand-alone product), a belt/strap clip and padded case.

The idea behind the mic was that you could get better sound from an acoustic instrument being as close to the sound hole as possible even closer than a traditional external mic could be placed. Also having it attached to the guitar, gives the musician the freedom to move around rather than be stuck in front of a stationary mic stand. Read more…and see full review at CanoeTech Blog.
