New massive Microsoft Canada HQ slated for September 2020

This morning, Microsoft Canada announced that it will move its Canadian headquarters to a new space in the heart of downtown Toronto at 81 Bay Street. Opening in 2020, the new facility will span four floors & 132,000 square feet of the new CIBC Square, empowering employees to thrive in a new modern workplace. Currently under construction, the new facility’s more central location is well-served by transit and is closer to Toronto’s downtown innovation hub.

Microsoft has had a headquarters in Canada since 1985. The future Canadian HQ will also include a new, state-of-the-art Microsoft Technology Center that will continue to empower digital transformation for partners and customers and ignite tech passion in school-aged youth.Flag of Canada (Pantone)

Since 1985 Microsoft has injected billions of dollars into the Canadian economy. This move represents the latest in a series of Microsoft’s significant investments in technological advancement and innovation in Canada.  In growing presence in Toronto, Microsoft is continuing its commitment to developing and retaining talent and innovation right here in Canada.

Even our Prime Minster of Canada, Justin Trudeau had something to say. “Our Government’s Innovation and Skills Plan is working. Leading tech companies are setting up offices across Canada, hiring Canadian talent, and investing in Canada’s enormous potential as an innovation and tech hub. Microsoft’s latest investment in Canada – totaling $570 million – will create hundreds of new jobs and benefit several cities, from Vancouver to Toronto to Montreal. I know our highly-skilled, diverse workforce will continue to attract tech investment in record numbers – growing our economy and creating new opportunities for Canadians across the country”
