As far as I can remember, major theatrical releases first went out to the big screen and the high-priced popcorn-eating crowd. Then, they eventually were pressed to DVD and or Blu-ray disc, for purchase or rental as well as through video on demand, iTunes and then perhaps Netflix and other on-line services. Apple adds iPhone to Back-To-School Promo

Every year, Apple has a Back-to-School promotion where they offer some sort of incentive, typically a gift card to encourage post-secondary students to buy a Mac or an iPad before the fall session of school kicks in.
