Why walk when you can RocketSkate?

R10_rocketskates

As spring is just around the corner it’s time to once again think about high-tech personal transportation. Earlier this month, we looked at a funky e-skateboard called Storm, but what if you prefer skates to a skateboard? If that’s the case then you might just drool over the RocketSkates by Acton. You may not achieve speeds like The Flash, but you will be able to get up to 7 mph for up to 5 miles on the RocketSkates R5 or up to 12 mph for 10 miles on the R10 model. So why walk when you can skate?

Review: iRig BlueTurn wirelessly turns your page

iRigBlueTurn_top_feet

Accessing your computer or mobile device while on stage for artists or presenters can often be a pain. This is especially true if your hands are full and all you want to do is turn a page on your sheet music, change a setlist or move through a presentation. This is where the new iRig BlueTurn comes in. It’s a compact wireless page turning gadget that utilizes your foot rather than your hand.

Created by IK Multimedia and made in Italy, iRig BlueTurn is a simple yet clever little BlueTooth enabled box. It’s designed to sit on the floor with two soft touch illuminated buttons positioned side-by-side to execute commands from one of three preset modes: Arrow up/down, Page up/down or Arrow left/right that you can configure upon power-up. In some apps, receiving these commands may allow control of other functions such as scrolling and start/stop functionality in certain modes depending on how the app interprets the standardized commands. Will this e-Skateboard take the world by Storm?

on-off-switch
It might not be the hoverboard Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly cruised around on in Back to the Future II nor will it levitate in mid-air but the new Storm eSkateboard is trying to quickly get off the ground.

The Storm Electric Skateboard is like a regular skateboard, plus an on-board motor and simple Bluetooth LE, which allows riders to control the direction and pace of the board.

“It’s a board that allows riders an incredible amount of freedom without compromising the ability to ride in the traditional way,” said Storm founder and CEO John Madden. “It’s stylish, functional and lightweight. Our board is really going to change the game while offering an incredibly low price that other electronic skateboard makers simply can’t match.” Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

Baton shaped Satechi wireless presenter

img_1502-edit1000px

Who says remote wireless presenters have to be flat or boring? Electronic accessory maker Satechi doesn’t seem to think so. They have unveiled their newest Aluminum Bluetooth Presenter and laser pointer that is shaped like a baton or a small mic rather than your typical offering.

The Satechi Aluminum Bluetooth Presenter (model ST-APA) is cylindrical shape with a two-tone colour scheme and available in three iOS inspired flavours. On all models, the top half is black and the bottom is one of either; gold, silver or space grey. On the underside is a USB charging port, charge indicator and power button. Read more…at CanoeTech Blog.

Dyson Pure Cool cools and purifies the air

PureCool_Gallery_Purifies_Year_RoundThe air we breathe indoors — where we spend the majority of our time in some cases can be more polluted than the air outside, advises Environment Canada. Some of those pollutants that can affect public health may include mould, smoke and carbon monoxide. In an attempt to help combat this issue, Dyson took some of their advanced technology they use in their vacuums and their fans plus some new added innovation and unveiled their first-ever purifier, Dyson Pure Cool.

Their latest innovation doubles both as a purifier and also a fan designed to both cool the air and remove 99.97% of harmful ultrafine particles as small as 0.3 microns from your home’s indoor air. Read Greg’s full review at CanoeTech Blog.

The ultimate mobile device for $9,995

sparkWhat sparks into mind when you read the headline? Another diamond encrusted or gold iPhone designed for those with a significant amount of disposable income? Well, this “ultimate mobile device” does come with 4G LTE – and with four wheels. Not it’s not a smartphone, but rather the all-new 2016 GM Chevy Spark.

The new wheels rolled out last month under a shroud of secrecy. As a Gadget Guy, admittedly it piqued my curiosity as nothing was pre-announced except for a picture of a box and the invitation to see the “unboxing” of the ultimate mobile device.

“The ultimate mobile device plays on the fact it has tech features just like a cell phone, but it is still a car and gets you places,” says Jamie Dewhurst, Assistant Brand Manager for Chevrolet. Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

KULR plays music charges your phone and keeps your beer cold

Kulr email image 2

Cooler, when used in the context of a place to keep your beer cold when on the beach doesn’t really stir up any excitement in one’s mind. But Kulr, which sounds the same is still a cooler but it’s high-tech and in a whole different category.

First off, the cooler part. It looks like a standard cooler, but a little more sleek and stylish. It has a scratch resistant shell and an elevated slip base to keep it slightly raised off the ground. It has extra thick insulated walls to keep your “brewskis” cold and will store up to 18 standard sized cans. And should you decide to go with bottles, there’s a custom bottle opener under the hood. Braven Bridge Executive Conference Call Speaker

Bridge_family_1There are lots of portable Bluetooth speakers on the market but I can’t say I’ve seen that many, particularly those offered in the consumer channel, specifically targeted or designed for the conference call market. But such is the case with the new Braven Bridge.

It’s being marketed as an “Executive Conference Call Speaker,” which I suspect is due to the fact that it offers both a luxurious design and built-in high definition microphones geared for use in a conference call environment. It’s an interesting differentiation as most other Bluetooth speaker offerings focus on the speaker with the microphone being a little extra, whereas for Braven, the mic is one of its primary features.
