CES 2014: E-Go lets you skateboard to the next frontier

e-go_cruiser_with_controller_1

As a kid growing up I relied heavily on bicycles and roller-skates but when it came to things like skateboards, I didn’t feel like I had the combined agility and leg power needed to take me on longer distances. And while I’m much older now, the new Yuneec E-Go Cruiser skateboard just might coax me into reliving that time in my youth.

Toyota CES 2014

If you’ve ever been to an International CES you’d be amazed by the shear size of the exhibition space and the number of exhibitors. In fact this year, according to the organizers, the show has reached some new milestones with more than 3,200 exhibitors spreading themselves across more than two million net square feet where over a four-day period thousands of new products and services are being introduced. Some products will be outright wonders, others a refresh of existing products and some perhaps in a concept state that we may see this year, next year or not at all. So here are just a few new products from this year’s International CES.

EDMONTON, AB, Jan 7, 2014/ Troy Media/ – With International CES 2014 about to kickoff, Apple jump-started this highly tech infused week by announcing some record app numbers in a number of categories, including downloads, dollars spent and monies paid to app developers.

According to Apple, December was the App Store’s most successful month in its short five-and-a-half-year history, with close to three billion downloads, And not all of them were freebies, as is reflected in the over $10 billion spent at the app store during all of 2013.

Apple, of course, showed its appreciation to those of us who dug deep into our pockets. “We’d like to thank our customers for making 2013 the best year ever for the App Store,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services. “The lineup of apps for the holiday season was astonishing and we look forward to seeing what developers create in 2014.”   READ FULL ARTICLE at TROY MEDIA

CanoeTech: U.S. solar company legitimizes Google Glass use

GoogleGlass white

Google Glass has certainly found itself this year at the butt-end of many jokes. In fact, it’s been parodied on Saturday Night Live and those who wear it have been branded with a less than flattering label. Many see it as ludicrous, expensive and destined for failure. But one leading renewable energy company, San Diego-based Sullivan Solar Power has announced that they are now using it along with their recently developed app, as a way to keep their technicians hands free out in the field, or more specifically out on the rooftops.

10 super advanced technologies Santa needs to deliver presents

CyberSanta

As the world’s population grows and handheld technology keeps kids right at Santa’s toes, the hidden North Pole toy factory needs to keep up with the times. Even more than ever before, Santa and his elves need to ensure they’re highly efficient, accurate and super quick in handling the billions of incoming requests, determining who’s been naughty and who’s been nice and schedule and make all the necessary deliveries around the world to the almost 1.9 billion children under 14 in one evening. All this while going totally undetected. A feat  I don’t think even the great FEDEX can even do.

bulb250

Nokero 180-Start

EDMONTON, AB, Dec 3, 2013/ Troy Media/ – In early 2010, Steve Katsaros, a mechanical engineer and former ski racer had a brilliant idea: to develop a simple, yet inexpensive solar light bulb that could be used almost anywhere. His idea has recently come to fruition as his company, Denver-based Nokero, launched the world’s most affordable solar light bulb.

The new light bulb will certainly be a sight for sore eyes (pardon the pun) for the over 1.3 billion people, about 20 per cent of the world’s population, who, according to the a International Energy Agency (IEA), live without access to electricity. That number has certainly grown because of natural disasters such as Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
