mini strapIt’s starting to sound cliché that I’ve seen speakers in all different shapes and sizes but I have to admit I haven’t come across one like the Boombotix Boombot mini that’s shaped like a triangle and features a reinforced clip to boot. Seeing it attached to a backpack strap or hip belt seems like something you’d see while walking the promenade on Deep Space 9 – well, almost.

Designed to be used for someone on the go, it’s made of lightweight yet shockproof high-impact ABS plastic designed to withstand impacts of up to 3m. Review: Battery packs and stands come in all different shapes and sizes but it’s not often that you find the two together. Such is the case with the Bracketron PowerFlex Stand tablet/smart phone stand with integrated battery and charger. It has a unique look and combines the ideal travel accessory with a rechargeable high-capacity power pack that you can easily take on the road, on the plane or have as a permanent fixture on your desk.

The rectangular base of the stand gives it the weight to stay in place and it’s also where the battery is housed. On the top surface is the power button and four bright green status LED lights. On the front is a microUSB 5v power-in port that’s used to recharge the battery. On the right face are two standard USB ports that you can use to recharge your smartphone or tablet. And for many users in 190 countries, including Canada, this upgrade will be available for free and in 111 languages. And while there are certainly many questions that need to be answered, here’s a selection of 10 of them.

It’s amazing how time flies, because folks, that day is today. Starting tomorrow, anyone still running Windows Server 2003 will no longer have the pleasure of getting any further updates, security patches or technical support from Microsoft leaving them vulnerable to possible breaches and future compatibility issues. Doctor Who time travels into Lego Dimensions

DrWhoScreenShotWhile I don’t profess to be a gameaholic like some of my colleagues, the combination of Doctor Who, Lego and video games really piqued my curiosity. While Doctor Who has never before materialized into a Lego video game, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment recently unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con some of the details about Doctor Who in Lego Dimensions.

This latest creation merges the world of bricks and mortar with interactive console gameplay. To be more accurate, it’s Lego brick building. Albert Clock makes you think to know the time

A clock is something that’s used to tell you the time and perhaps wake you up in the morning, but MNTNT, a little humble Paris design studio had the idea that it could be more than that. In addition to simply providing information, it could also be a “digital object” that keeps your mind active and at the same time improve the mathematical skills of kids and grownups alike. And thus, Albert or more specifically, the Albert Clock was conceived.

Named after Albert Einstein, the idea behind the innovation is that instead of just giving you the hour and minute of the day, you’d be faced with a math problem to solve and the results would be in hours and minutes respectively. So to know that it’s 8:30, you’ll have to do a little calculation; 18-10 = 8 and 26+4 = 30. Made you think, didn’t it?
