Podcasting for Nurturing Young Minds

Kevin Achtzener

A good friend of mine, Kevin Achtzener decided to go back to school to complete an after degree in Education. He thought that getting his students to create their own podcasts would not only show the power of podcasting, but it would be a novel and fun approach to educating his class with new material as part of a Spanish Language Arts curriculum as part of his final year practicum.

In the interview below, or also available at Toastcaster.com, Kevin shared his experience as to why he chose podcasting as a teaching medium and what he was trying to accomplish. He also shares how the class took to it and how their podcasts turned out. He talks a little about the methods he used, the subjects he selected as well as what both he and his students learned from the process.

If you think about it, it makes sense.

In the episode you’ll also hear how he strong-armed yours truly 🙂 by interviewing me. He did this to illustrate this as both a sample podcast i.e. , a practical example and as a way to share his knowledge with the students through a podcast which was to be played in the classroom.

Have a listen and enjoy!
