Navigating the Tech Zoo

Whether it’s for your home, office or a gift during the upcoming holiday season, it’s no secret that sometimes it can feel like a zoo navigating crowded store aisles or the Internet wilderness while seeking out the right technology. But fortunately, I had an opportunity once again, to take in LDTECH 2015 – London Drugs Retail Tech Group Annual Conference or at east a portion of it . Not only did I once again get to see birds of prey but also “friendly” animals you wouldn’t necessarily find in your neighbourhood. Now, I didn’t get a chance to partake in the awards ceremonies, in-depth training sessions and other secret things the 650 LD attendees do to keep current and enlightened. However, I did get to partake with them getting up close and personal with many of the 75 vendors displaying many exciting gadgets and tech ware many new and soon available at your local stores.  Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

If you like playing games and enjoy Halloween candy then this game whose name is quite a mouthful might be a great one for you. It’s Halloween Horror Candy Saga Fever.  While its play style may seem familiar, this one has a sweet little twist, pardon the pun, as it features three different game modes. The first is Survival Mode where you need to be careful where you tap. The cake tiles are okay but watch out for the black ones. Slate – World’s 1st portable nutritional smart scale

SlateScale A Calgary company is weighing in on the health market by looking at bringing to market, through a crowd funding campaign, Slate Scale, the world’s first portable smart scale for nutrition tracking. Slate Scale is battery operated and designed to pair with your smart phone and when partnered with its companion app, becomes your personal dietitian.

The concept is simple. First you weigh your food (up to 1 kg) on the stainless steel scale. Then, you enter into the app what it is, or in some cases you may be able to use a barcode. The system then taps into a nutritional database, which determines the food’s macronutrients, and in turn it logs the item’s weight along with its calories, carbs, proteins and fat content.  Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog

While it’s fun to sit in front of your big screen TV to play games, we don’t always have the luxury of time or a big screen to be able to do so. We can however play games on our smartphones and tablets but the touchscreen experience for many of us is just not the same of the real feel of a gamepad.
