Reinvented 19th century lens raises $1 Million on Kickstarter

Comparison_OLD_VS_NEW

A new Kickstarter project designed to bring a legendary 19th century camera lens back to life has already got a real boost, having raised $1.13 million U.S. in just over a week. The kicker, pardon the pun, is that the funders were originally looking for backers to pledge $100,000, an amount that they reached within a matter of a few hours. And with already over 2,700 backers, it certainly sounds like there’s a new demand for this oldie but goodie technology.

boomBottle adds sound to your bicycle

boomBottle

If you’ve got water in the bottle cage on your bicycle, it might be time to find it a new home, because you might want to replace it with the boomBottle by Scosche. Of course the word boom, creates all kinds of imagery, but this has nothing to do with dangerous liquids, nor any liquids or bottles for that matter. It’s a funky new rugged weatherproof bicycle speaker so you can listen to your tunes streamed from your wireless device while on the road.

Replica

I’ve heard of 3D printers being used to create tiny little plastic replacement parts for cars, but Auckland New Zealand’s Ivan Sentch has something on a much grander scale in mind. He’s got his sites set on 3D-printing a full-scale car and planning on doing it with a desktop 3D printer.

Review: Sharp Aquos LC-60LE857U 3D LED Smart TV

1-LC-60LE857U_55R

About two and a half years ago I had the opportunity to test-drive Sharp’s 46” Aquos Quattron and gave a review here at Canoe Tech blog. Remember the commercial featuring George Takei (Mr. Sulu from Star Trek) in his white lab coat?  At that time 46″ was still considered reasonably large and I really wanted to see whether that one little yellow pixel would really make a difference. Fast-forward to today and Sharp Aquos Quattron has taken a leap forward. Not only have screens increased up to 90”, they’ve also become a lot smarter in the 6, 7 & 8-series models.

Gosling’s new flick hits theatres, iTunes same time

OnlyGodForgives

As far as I can remember, major theatrical releases first went out to the big screen and the high-priced popcorn-eating crowd. Then, they eventually were pressed to DVD and or Blu-ray disc, for purchase or rental as well as through video on demand, iTunes and then perhaps Netflix and other on-line services. However, for Gosling’s latest flick, this is not the case.

EDMONTON, AB, Jul 12, 2013/ Troy Media/ – “Your call is important. Please stay on the line and someone will be with you shortly.” After hearing that for the 27th time, it starts to become annoying, doesn’t it? If you’re like me, you probably dream hearing it in your sleep.

It might even become your worst nightmare.

Repetition can be monotonous – like having to make it through summer reruns on TV or listening to verbal filler such as “Like I said,” or “Did I tell you this already?” which occurs when not having enough to say or simply stumbling over your words. And  when it happens in conversation or during a presentation, it can detract from getting your point across. However, when used effectively, repeating what you have to say can actually enhance your message.

powerdock5-1_1

Having a dedicated charger for your devices might be a good thing, but when you have five of them, like iPads, iPods and iPhones, it might be a challenge to have them all plugged nice and neat in a compact space.
