Free wake-up service fit for the Queen

Not everyone has a cellphone, a computer or even an alarm clock, so when our long-retired Aunt called to find a wake-up call service for 2:55AM MDT to watch the Queen’s 90th Birthday celebration, she mentioned that she had heard there was an on-line service that could do the job. I too thought there must be one or even an app for that.

With less than six-hours of available shut-eye for dear old Aunt, I quickly started a little digging and noticed there were a number of services. IK Multimedia releases Lurssen Mastering Console for iPhone

IK Multimedia has announced the release of Lurssen Mastering Console, the first iPhone mastering app that lets musicians master their mixes with a model of the console and settings used by the engineers at Lurssen Mastering, Inc., in Los Angeles, California. Lurssen Mastering Console is a totally unique approach to audio mastering that incorporates the Lurssen “whole is greater than the sum of its parts” philosophy by recreating not only the gear chain used but the interactions and influence the processors have on other gear in the chain during the mastering process. Jabra unveils Halo Smart Wireless earphones

According to a survey commissioned by Jabra, almost 80% of respondents offered that they would prefer to have a single set of headphones for both calls and music, but often found call quality lacked on those devices designed for music. So Jabra came up with their Jabra Halo Smart wireless headphones that give both voice and call, top priority.

The Halo Smart is a rubberized in-ear headphone that wraps around behind the neck. To enhance call quality, they incorporated a high-end mic with integrated wind noise protection. World’s first HDR time-lapse camera

You can do time-lapse recording on many devices these days, but if you could have just one device that can sit out in the middle of nowhere that can instantly produce time-lapse HD video in varying light conditions, then the new BRINNO TLC200 PRO TIME LAPSE CAMERA might be something to look at.

Brinno claims it’s the world’s first time-lapse HDR camera. It’s a pocket sized standalone unit 64x 52x 107 mm with a built-in 1.44″ TFT LCD monitor and viewfinder. It has a wide-angle (112° field of view) and comes with an f/2.0 19mm lens (equivalent to 35mm). The lens can also be rotated up to 120° and the focus can be set manually. Whoosh! wipes out your smartphone’s bacteria

It comes in the form of a kit that consists of a clear spray solution and an anti-microbial 6″ x 6″ orange microfibre cloth. There’s no alcohol or ammonia in the solution, which can be harmful to the coatings on some screens, particularly those like the oleophobic coating found on the iPhone.

Screens like the iPhone are designed for capacitive touch. This means that it relies on the ever-minute electrical particles found in the human finger that makes touchscreens possible. That’s why touchscreens don’t really work if you’re wearing regular gloves.

New Ford Fusion jumps potholes and stops and goes automatically

It doesn’t matter where you are in Canada you’re certain to find potholes of every shape and size and it’s no secret they can cause some serious car damage not to mention a less than smooth driving experience. While Ford can’t fix the potholes, what they have done is added some new pothole detection and avoidance technology amongst other innovations into the 2017 Ford Fusion to help alleviate some of the stress attempting navigating the roads that can seem like a landmine obstacle course.
