LuxLady

If you see a lady with the Braven LUX, you might comment on her stylish clutch purse. While she might be flattered with the compliment, you may be surprised to find that it’s not a purse, but a new limited edition wireless speaker from Braven’s Design Series.

If you’re looking for a gift for that someone special who seems to have everything, chances are that he or she doesn’t have the Yantouch Diamond+, a 3-in-1 mini entertainment system that’s a sound, light and a sleep/wake device all built-in to a desktop diamond-cut shaped globe. This latest model from the Taiwan based company is a new and much improved follow up to their previous Diamond II and Diamond 3 models.

Oral-B Bluetooth toothbrush keeps your teeth white

Oral-B BluetoothEvery day we hear about some new device now equipped with Bluetooth. The latest, are Oral-B’s 5000 and 7000 series of interactive smart toothbrushes. Now back in March here at Canoe Tech Blog, we had a look at their latest plaque fighting tooth brush technology and learned the secret about how it all came about because a German engineer had an epiphany while brushing snow off the driveway. Their latest models, Oral-B SmartSeries with Bluetooth 4.0 Connectivity 5000 and 7000 still incorporate the ridiculously fast oscillations and pulsations and still include their remote SmartGuide, but now you’re able to monitor and track your progress and even share the data with your dental professional because there’s now an app for that.

To get the lowdown on the brushes capabilities, have a look at the original article, as today, I’d like to focus primarily on the model’s Bluetooth connectivity and the app it brings to the table. What’s interesting is that not only does the brush send data to the app; the app also has customization capabilities that allows it to communicate back to the brush for personalized brushing.  Read full review at Canoe Tech Blog.

5 Gadgets for your listening pleasure

Bike 1

With the school year now in full swing, you can’t be studying 24/7; you need some down time to tune out the world and tune in to your favourite tunes, podcasts or perhaps maybe a lecture. So here are a couple of gadgets suitable for whatever your listening pleasure.

Divoom Bike Mount Speaker

Wireless Bluetooth speakers are becoming quite common, but it’s amazing how the smallest little innovation can add incredible functionality to one. This is particularly true, if you like to bike everywhere. Such is the case with the wireless Divoom Voombox Ongo. It can easily connect to any compatible smartphone or tablet. But it’s also rubberized and rugged and water resistant, ideal for outdoors, but what’s really neat, it’s also configured with a detachable bicycle mount.  The mount clips onto your handlebars and screws onto the bottom of your speaker using a standard tripod thread mount, making it compatible not only with your bike, but any tripod, really. This makes it nice and snug and secure while riding but quick and easy to detach when you arrive at your destination.

808 Hex XL Bluetooth speaker features bottom firing subwoofer

It never ceases to amaze me as to how creative manufacturers can be when trying to differentiate a product from the thousands already available. This is particularly true right now with the Bluetooth wireless speaker market.  There are so many out there, many of which I simply gloss over, but the 808 Hex XL Portable Bluetooth Speaker by Voxx International, did catch my attention.

Depending on your perspective, the Hex XL can either look like a miniature version of a speaker monitor that you’d find on stage at a concert or perhaps the latest fashion purse on display at a downtown boutique.

Since I rarely talk about purses, it must be closer to the former.   The 808 Hex XL (SP920) is a Bluetooth wireless 2.1 stereo speaker featuring two mid-drivers and a mini down-firing subwoofer at the bottom. It’s adorned with a black mesh grill, with mini honeycomb shaped cutouts that you can see right through to the speakers. I suspect the origin of the name Hex comes from “hexagonal” and that fact that honeycombs have six sides.   READ FULL REVIEW at CANOE TECH BLOG
