Even after years of preparing steak, fish or even chicken, do you still find yourself having to cut into your protein to make sure it’s cooked just right or well enough? Tech gifts for the whole family to enjoy

Vero-mirror_bathroom-styleStocking stuffers are great for individual family members, but sometimes it can be a challenge finding just the right gift to put under the tree that everyone in the entire household can enjoy. So here are three ideas that everyone in the family can take pleasure in either inside or outside of the home.

Bluetooth Mirror-Mirror on the Wall

Bluetooth speakers are plentiful, but you’ve likely never seen one built into a stylish high-tech mirror. Designed to fit on your wall, the Viio series feature built-in side speakers, LED lighting and hands free-calling.

With Viio, anyone in the family can sing in the shower while listening to tunes and even take calls, if it just can’t wait. And when you’re all done, the anti-fog button will dissipate the steamy surface. Of course Viio can certainly go beyond the bathroom. Dyson Supersonic is a new hair dryer

100122255The Dyson Supersonic was just unveiled in Tokyo and with no doubt; the name immediately stirs up imagery of an ultra high-speed vacuum or fan. And while I’m sure some of their existing technology is in this new product, James Dyson and his crack team of 100+ engineers and 30 in-house motor specialists have come up with what they think is the ultimate fast, focused and intelligent hair dryer and the answer to all hair drying problems.

“Hair dryers can be heavy, inefficient and make a racket. By looking at them further we realized that they could also cause extreme heat damage to hair. I challenged Dyson engineers to really understand the science of hair and develop our version of a hair dryer, which we think solves these problems,” says inventor and company founder James Dyson.

Electrohome Retro Clock Radio set with motion sensor technology

ElectroRetro

Clock radios as we know them aren’t dead they’ve just become a little bit more practical and high tech. This appears to be the case with the Retro Clock Radio by Electrohome. At quick glance it resembles a vintage alarm clock with a round face and stand, but that’s pretty much where the retro ends.

The Retro Clock Radio, model CR35, features a digital face with function buttons both on the front and on the side.  And what looks like alarm bells, are two LED light bulbs which you can illuminate instantly by simply waving your hand in front of them, thanks to the unit’s built-in motion sensors.  READ Full Post at Canoe Tech Blog.

REVIEW: Dyson unveils Cinetic DC78 54 cyclone filterless bagless vacuum

DC78TH - nickel and blue gaskets

James Dyson is about to make headlines once again. You’d probably be hard pressed to find anyone who hasn’t seen his famous face in a TV commercial, starting about 20 years ago, telling us how inefficient vacuums are because they lose suction because of this culprit – the ugly dirty dusty vacuum bag.  And now there’s a new story.

Back in 1993, Dyson realized that bagged vacuums lost suction as the bag’s pores clogged even before it was full.  So they did away with them by introducing cyclonic technology that spins the dirt right into a bin.  The technology evolved over time but they realized that they were still losing suction – the blame now was put on the clogged filter that was still necessary to capture the dust. Fast forward two decades and the filter, which we hate to clean or change and is also a culprit in the war against suction loss, is now too going the way of the dodo bird.

No More Filters

Dyson is making this possible by the introduction of their next generation vacuum in North America that uses its newly patented Dyson Cinetic cyclone technology.

“Getting rid of bags solved the frustration of my vacuum losing suction. But washing filters – or worse – buying them, is still a nuisance. Dyson Cinetic cyclones are so efficient at separating microscopic particles that everything gets thrust into the bin, and you can forget about fussy filters,” says James Dyson.
