It comes in the form of a kit that consists of a clear spray solution and an anti-microbial 6″ x 6″ orange microfibre cloth. There’s no alcohol or ammonia in the solution, which can be harmful to the coatings on some screens, particularly those like the oleophobic coating found on the iPhone.
Screens like the iPhone are designed for capacitive touch. This means that it relies on the ever-minute electrical particles found in the human finger that makes touchscreens possible. That’s why touchscreens don’t really work if you’re wearing regular gloves.

The concept is simple. First you weigh your food (up to 1 kg) on the stainless steel scale. Then, you enter into the app what it is, or in some cases you may be able to use a barcode. The system then taps into a nutritional database, which determines the food’s macronutrients, and in turn it logs the item’s weight along with its calories, carbs, proteins and fat content. Speedo, Misfit partner in new swim tracker Speedo Shine

Misfit, the makers of Shine, the slim-lined activity and sleep tracker, has partnered up with swim apparel and accessories giant Speedo and have introduced the new Speedo Shine. The Speedo Shine takes a page or all of the pages really from the original Shine, incorporating all the same functionality plus new features designed with swimmers in mind.
Specifically, it adds proprietary lap counting algorithms, driven by its 3-axis accelerometer, embedded right into the device’s firmware. It’s designed to work for all stroke types and more accurate than general-purpose devices having been validated by Speedo in-pool testing. SMS Audio, founded by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has teamed up with Intel to create the BioSport Biometric Earbuds, so if it’s important to you to monitor your heart rate, you can do it while out and about listing to your favourite tunes without having to worry or need to have an additional device or gadget attached you.
SMS Audio is not the first out of the gate to create the dual-purpose earbud/heart monitor. However, what is novel is that the biometric monitoring is designed to use so little power, it does not require a battery; it’s fully driven from the 3.5 mm gold-plated audio jack that plugs in to your smartphone. Oral-B Bluetooth toothbrush keeps your teeth white

Every day we hear about some new device now equipped with Bluetooth. The latest, are Oral-B’s 5000 and 7000 series of interactive smart toothbrushes. Now back in March here at Canoe Tech Blog, we had a look at their latest plaque fighting tooth brush technology and learned the secret about how it all came about because a German engineer had an epiphany while brushing snow off the driveway. Their latest models, Oral-B SmartSeries with Bluetooth 4.0 Connectivity 5000 and 7000 still incorporate the ridiculously fast oscillations and pulsations and still include their remote SmartGuide, but now you’re able to monitor and track your progress and even share the data with your dental professional because there’s now an app for that.

Runtastic Orbit fitness activity and sleep tracker review

I spend a significant amount of time in front of some form of screen and probably not enough time at the gym, doing things that keep me in shape like walking which I strive to do at least three to five times per week. Now depending on whom you talk to, it can take 21 days, 40 days or somewhere in between to form a habit. Whatever that number is for you, having a device able to be with you 24/7 is a probably a good way to start. So I jumped at the opportunity to test-drive the new Runtastic Orbit, a real-time activity, fitness and sleep tracker.
Austria-based Runtastic is not a newcomer to the tracking game; they already have a whack of other apps on the market like Runtastic Road Bike, Pedometer and Wintersports. However, this is their first foray into providing their own complete hardware and software solution. The heart of the Orbit comes in the form an interestingly shaped waterproof module.
