Hardly a day goes by where we don’t hear about yet another new podcast. In fact there are tens of thousands of them around the world and on every conceivable topic. While many have thought it was just a fad in that video would totally annihilate the traditional podcast (there are also video podcasts) nothing can be further from the truth. Watch Live: Google Pixel 2 coming October 4th?

A suspicious email arrives in my inbox with the subject line, “Ok Google, how many days until Oct 4?” An animated GIF pops up on the screen with the showing the same question, then a reply, “20 days.” At first I thought it was suspicious especially since it was fairly non-descript email. It had short links and a PNG attachment and no signature line. After further investigation, I determined it was legit and realized it was a teaser for some new stuff coming from Google.

Watch total Solar Eclipse 2017 NASA Live Stream/ Replay

If you can’t be along the actual solar eclipse path, then watching it live stream is the next best thing from NASA Eclipse central and you can watch it all below.  The pre-show starts at noon ET. If you decide you want to look up, then make sure you take the necessary precautions.  Experts have said looking at the eclipse without  the right eye protection, except when you have totality (when moon is completely covered*), can have an impact on your eyes lasting from moments of  and days of discomfort to permanent eye damage.  Be safe!

New hoverboards offer No-Fall Technology

I can honestly say I’ve never fallen off a hoverboard, but then again, I only took one for a test drive once and someone was holding me for part of the way and when I finally decided to go solo I barely put the pedal to the metal. Now should I have truly revved it up, for lack of a better term, my feet and the hoverboard would surely have parted ways.  Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

Downed INTERAC e-Transfer services slowly coming back on-line

If you use INTERAC e-transfer services to send and receive money and you’re still celebrating Canada 150, you may not have noticed that the service is down and has been for over 24 hours. Netflix adds Dolby Atmos support

If you can’t get enough Netflix and want to enhance your listening experience in addition to 4K and HDR viewing, the company just announced, that starting today it will be adding Dolby Atmos sound support to the service starting with Bon Joon Ho’s Okja which recently had its debut at the Cannes Film Festival.

If Dolby Atmos is new to you, think of it as like surround sound on steroids. Instead of just having sound all around, the sound will actually travel in three dimensions. Canadarm gets stamp to commemorate Canada 150

If you think about the ultimate gadget, the Canadarm has to the one that’s just out of this world. Groaning aside, think of what it had accomplished. For over three decades, since Canadarm’s first mission aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia on November 13th 1981, it has maneuvered, up in space, astronauts, satellites and cargo until the program ended and it was retired in 2011.
