Duct Tape and Tablets Don’t Mix

Protective gear and proper mounts like iKlip 3 keep your tablets safe and secure

Today, it’s not uncommon to see video being captured on a tablet with high-definition cameras now built-in. However, if you plan on using one to stream Facebook Live, Instagram or collect footage for your next viral YouTube video make absolutely certain it’s properly secured before you hit the record button. I’ve witnessed just one too many examples of people being pumped up, energized and excited capturing the moment only to see enthusiasm hit rock bottom. They watch in horror the slow motion descent of their precious iPad, Galaxy Tab, Kindle Fire or other tumbles to the ground and there’s little they can do to stop it.

But don’t let that painful visual deter you. [Read more…]

Apple drops iPad Air in favour of new iPad

A few years back when Apple launched their latest series of smaller notebooks, they dropped the “Air” in MacBook Air and simply called the new 12-inch model, MacBook. Well, it looks like the same has happened with the iPad Air, as Apple today unveiled a new lower-cost 9.7-inch model simply called iPad.

With the release of the new model for 2017, the new designation will separate it from the iPad Pro models.  The new iPad will feature an upgraded processor, yet remain very similar to the MacBook Air 2 but with a few differences.

It still keeps the same display size as the MacBook Air 2, i.e. 9.7-inches. It will still be an LED backlit, Retina display with multi-touch at 264 PPI and a 2048 x 1536 resolution. It also maintains the 8.0MP rear camera that shoots 1080P HD video, and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing FaceTime HD camera battery-life also remains at 10 hours.  Read full post at Canoe Tech Blog.

Belkin Qode detachable app-enabled iPad wireless keyboard

Belkin FrontIf you find yourself using your iPad Air 2 for more of your daily tasks, you may also find a greater need to carry around a physical keyboard. If that’s the case, then it might be time to have a look at the Belkin Qode Ultimate Pro Keyboard for iPad Air 2.

While it does have an unusual name, the Qode Ultimate Pro is both a keyboard and a protective case. Unlike other Belkin models, the case component attaches with its magnetic flap so the keyboard is never permanently tethered. It’s handy, so you can quickly and conveniently detach and use your iPad in handheld mode. And should you decide to leave the keyboard at home, you can still have added protection. The case component is fully compatible with the Apple Smart Cover if you already own one. Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog,

Apple refreshes iPad, iPad mini, iMac and Mac Mini lineup

It’s been barely a month since Apple’s iPhone 6 event in September and yet another has already come and gone. Now perhaps this last held one held yesterday might have been a little more anticlimactic than the iPhone 6 event but nonetheless there were some significant announcements about new iPad, iMac and Mac Mini models and of course the official announcement of Mac OS X Yosemite.

iPad Air 2

As expected, the iPad Air was refreshed and replaced with the iPad Air 2. The iPad Air was already pretty thin but this new model is even thinner now at just 6.1 mm thick and weighing in at less than a single pound. They’ve improved on the Retina display offering richer vibrant colors and a new anti-reflective coating that is designed to reduce glare by up to 56%. It’s also zippier, incorporating a second generation 64-bit and 40% faster A8X chip into its belly and adding 2 1/2 times the graphics performance of the previous iPad Air. It also includes the M8 motion coprocessor, which like the newer iPhones gathers data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and an all-new barometer.

iPad 4 given a new lease on life

Greg-Gazin-Senior-EditorEDMONTON, AB, Mar 18, 2014/ Troy Media/ – When Apple introduced the iPad Air in November 2013 it discontinued the fourth generation iPad but retained the iPad 2 which was originally introduced three years earlier as their entry level full sized tablet. Well it seems that the iPad 4 or appropriately called iPad with Retina display has been given a new lease on life as the iPad 2 is put out to pasture.

While not as sleek, light and powerful as the new iPad Air, the iPad with Retina display is still a decent and reasonably current product, especially now that it is priced the same as the affordable iPad 2 it replaces.  READ FULL STORY at TROY MEDIA
