Trouble hearing voices on TV? Try ZVOX AccuVoice

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could actually decipher and properly hear the dialogue in on TV and in movies? Yes, it’s baffling. As technology advances and the advent of immersive technologies like surround sound and Dolby Atmos, to enjoy as show, we still might have to crank up the volume, which may help marginally or turn on close captioning. Sometimes we may even have to “rewind” and go back to make out what’s actually being said. Of course, adding long term exposure to noisy environments, a little too much loud music and perhaps a little aging doesn’t help the cause either.

Review: TCL 32” Roku Smart LED TV– Ideal for Cord Cutters & Small Spaces

We consume media on our tablets and Smartphones, but sometimes it’s nice to be able to relax with a cold one in front of the TV. A mega-sized screen is great, but sometimes a small compact model like the the TCL 32” Roku Smart LED TV (32S327-CA), can be better suited for the job. Perhaps you’re in a small condo, dorm or cottage. Or maybe you need a second set to motivate you to get your steps in on the treadmill or just trying to earn little extra money and run an AirBnB.

Will House of Cards be the same? Final season coming up Nov 2

How many of you binge watched House of Cards? I know I did – more or less over a week or two. Frank Underwood seemed to be the guy everyone loved to hate. Of course with all the allegations against Kevin Spacey it was inevitable that he would not be in the upcoming season of House of Cards. In fact some probably wondered if the series would continue – but apparently it is for one more go around. The final season is out on Netflix November 2.

At the end of the last season, it was obvious that Claire was vying for the top job – but now knowing that Frank won’t be in the picture and Claire’s rise seems somewhat inevitable – will the series be the same?  Will the show be the same without Underwood’s character?

Well I guess it remains to be seen. Netflix offered up a little teaser showing Claire at Frank’s grave – so it seems that some reigns are already known.

Here’s the official sneak peek trailer:

Canadian Netflix watchers top world in Binge Racing

What Is Binge Racing Infographic_STILL

When House of Cards made its debut on Netflix, I watched Season 1 in its entirety in less than a week. I thought that was pretty fab, but I guess that’s nothing compared to today’s Bingers who are ripping through every single episode of a season in a day. In fact, the new trend amongst the over eight million “super fans” around the world, primarily to get bragging rights is called Binge Racing with Canada clocking in with the world’s top marks. Will you binge watch House of Cards Season 3?

HouseOfCards Season 3

If you are a big fan of House of Cards on Netflix, I’m sure you’re excited that Season 3 is now hot off the press. I wonder, how many of you have already put aside all those important things that you were supposed to in favour binge-watching the entire season of 13 episodes?

I admit that so far, I’ve only watched Season 3 Episode 1 – or Chapter 27 is it’s referred to. I made myself a promise not to repeat what I did last for Season 2 after I binged on Season 1. It started off nice and slow; I controlled the urge and watched the first three episodes over a period of a little over two weeks. Then I couldn’t help myself. I cranked out the popcorn maker and watched the rest of the season over a weekend. Read more…and take our POLL at Canoe Tech Blog

Netflix subscriptions jump by $1

HouseOfCardsBut still a very good deal.…

EDMONTON, AB, May 12, 2014/ Troy Media/ – If you’ve been putting off subscribing to Netflix and watching the scheming Kevin Spacey in Emmy-award winning House of Cards until now, it’s going to cost you just a little bit more to subscribe.

Netflix says the $1 price increase (from $7.99 to $8.99) is necessary if it was to continue to add more movies and TV shows to its roster and continue to provide original and exclusive (and expensive) content. House of Cards just released Season 2 in February and Orange is the New Black will debut Season 2 on June 6th.

Netflix recently sent out an e-mail to current members advising them of the change and how it would affect them now and in the long term.

“As a thank you for being a member of Netflix already, we guarantee your plan and price (excluding tax) will not change for two years.”

The company added that they would guarantee the current price members pay as long as they maintained current membership.

Lost one too many Apple TV remotes?

SlickWraps Apple Remote Orange

Apple TV Remote with Slickwraps skin, in the dark

Where’s the remote? This is a cry often heard in my household. It’s usually followed by, “which one,” a ritual that occurs on a regular basis, most often on a Friday or Saturday night. After fiddling and fumbling, looking under the couch between the cushions or maybe under the newspaper, the missing remote is usually found along with another you weren’t looking for, yet. However sometimes, like in the case of the pocket-size Apple remote, it may be destined to never be found.
