This time, it comes from long-time audio products manufacturer Pyle USA. Today, they unveiled a brand-new turntable that almost makes a vinyl record stand up on its end. Review: Blue Raspberry a sweet little mic

Raspberry FrontYou wouldn’t associate blue with raspberry unless you were talking about candy or microphones – specifically the Raspberry by Blue Microphones a portable high-quality mobile USB mic designed for your PC or Mac but also for your iOS device.

Blue’s latest offering is small yet powerful. It can deliver studio quality 24-bit/48 kHz sound for your podcast, voice-over or even YouTube masterpiece through its small condenser capsule thanks to its Internal Acoustic Diffuser (IAD). Its Blue’s proprietary technology is designed to help focus on the voice or instrument, if that’s what you’re recording, and minimizes or deflects other sounds it detects as extraneous noise.

This can be handy particularly in a mobile environment, where you can’t always control what’s happening around you.  Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

Braven Ready Elite outdoor app enabled speaker with bottle opener

braven-ready-elite-wireless-bluetooth-speaker-black-a_1
Braven Audio was one of the early entrance into the wireless speaker market. We first looked one back in 2012 and another, the Braven Lux, late last year, which could be easily mistaken for a ladies clutch purse. This year at CES 2017 they released the “Ready” line of outdoor speakers. The model I’ve particularly taken note of is the Ready Elite, their top-end heavy-duty wireless Bluetooth app-enabled model designed for the outdoors.
Designed to be rugged, it features a shockproof an aircraft-grade aluminum grill over a moulded cabinet. It’s also waterproof and rustproof, certified to the IP67 standard. For that extra boost when playing outdoors, this speaker features massive drivers and a deep bass passive radiator. Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

To follow up our last post of some cool new gadgets and technology hitting the market in 2017, here are a couple more that will appeal to music lovers all around including a funky wireless streaming turntable from 808 Audio and a serious high-powered dual tablet Karaoke system from VocoPro.

808 Audio has unveiled a whole new lineup of audio gadgets. One in particular that really caught my eye is the new 808 Audio Wireless Streaming Turntable. Modular Pro-Ject Genie turntable pure genius

Pro-JectGenieIt was Mark Twain who said his reported death had been greatly exaggerated. This can easily be extended to the record player or more specifically, the turntable. Even with CDs, iPods, digital downloads and now streaming being the choice for music listeners, the turntable, an icon from the last millennium had never really died it just wasn’t top of mind. In fact if you look at the RPM 1.3 Genie by Pro-Ject, it has come back into the limelight with a vengeance.

Now true die-hard audiophiles have always believed that digital sound just does not feel the same as the true analog sound produced through playing vinyl. Whether you’re a student of that school or not, there’s no doubt that sound quality can be affected by the quality and condition of the vinyl, the stylus and cartridge and how well it sits within the groove walls of the vinyl record.  The last part of that equation is how everything is further impacted by the turntable platter; where the record sits; how evenly and smooth it rotates and how that’s affected by any rumble, vibration or noise caused by the turntable’s motor. Read more…at Canoe Tech Blog.

Review: IK Mulitmedia iRig HD 2 digital guitar interface

1-2_irighd2_34_vertIK Multimedia has finally unveiled their sequel to the affordable pocket-sized iRig HD digital guitar interface and not surprising, it’s called the iRig HD 2. This low-noise, high-definition guitar preamp offers the same functionality as its predecessor plus a whole lot more, adding some much needed features to the original and new additions to keep up with advancing technologies.

The new iRig HD 2 has a solid build quality and is just slightly larger (by 9 mm) and a touch heavier by (15 g), so it is still nice and compact and pretty much still fits in the palm of your hand. It draws power from the host and is designed for use with iOS devices including the new iPhone 7 as well as Macs and PCs. It features a 24-bit analog-to-digital converter plus a 96 kHz sampling rate for an ultra high-definition, high-quality signal.

It has an onboard gain control dial so you can control the pre-amp signal input from the 1/4″ Hi-Z jack when playing or recording to make sure you’re at the right level. There’s also a multicoloured LED to monitor that level. Read Full Review at CanoeTech Blog.

iTrip Clip wirelessly connects smartphone to any headphone

Bluetooth audio adapters have been around for a while. At first they were marketed as giving you the ability to use your favourite wired headphones wirelessly, i.e. not having them tethered to your smartphone. Now with the likes of Apple’s iPhone 7 and the the Motorola Moto Z shipping sans headphone jacks, an adapter like the new iTrip Clip Bluetooth Audio Adapter by Griffin Technology is a wireless alternative to using USB to 3.5 mm adapters.
